Contrary to popular belief, a wool mattress does not make a bedroom conducive to dust-mite growth, but poor hygiene can.
As for moths, they are keratin-eating insects: they feed on keratin. Wool is made of keratin, just like hair, fur and feathers. Moths can therefore settle in many different places!
The solution for keeping moths out of a mattress: because they dislike movement, light and circulating air, remember good hygiene habits. Turn the mattress, air the room and vacuum it.
Then comes the question of bedbugs! These are blood-feeding insects. Even if you sleep on a board, they will spread around that board because they stay where the sleeper is, not where the bed is best.
